Background Of Jeffrey Dahmer

Jefferey Dahmer was born on 16 May 1960. Initially, he had a normal childhood, but as soon as he got older, he became unsocial and uncommunicative. He had little to no interest in human interactions and began examining animal carcasses and started drinking for fun.

Soon after he graduated, in 1978, he committed his first murder. He would attend his next murder after a period of nine years. Dahmer attended college after the first murder but dropped out due to his drinking habits.

His father then enlisted him in the German army, where he served as the combat medic from 1979 to 1981. However, he couldn’t help drinking and was also discharged from the army. His behavior and habits started to bother his father, and he was then sent to his grandmother’s house.

But this could not stop him from committing more crimes. He continued to commit heinous crimes for almost a decade. And at last, he was arrested on July 22, 1991.

Crimes Of Jeffrey Dahmer

Murder

Jeffrey Dahmer committed his first murder after graduation. During that summer, he had to witness his parent's divorce and was alone in the family house. He decided to take advantage of the opportunity and acted on the dark thoughts that had been growing in his mind.

He then lured a hitchhiker Steven Hicks. He first offered Hicks to drink beer with him at his father’s house and took him there, but as soon as Hicks decided to leave, Dahmer hit him with a ten lb. dumbbell in the back of his head in order to make him unconscious.

Dahmer then dissected, dissolved, and scattered the imperceptible body parts throughout his apartment’s backyard.

Furthermore, Steven Tuomi was his second victim after nine years, and he was killed in September 1987. Dahmer picked him up, too, from a bar. Afterward, he took him to a hotel room, where he woke up the next morning to Tuomi’s dead body.

He later stated that he did not have any memory of actually murdering Tuomi. And tried to imply that he had committed the crime on some kind of blacked-out impulse. His killings continued even after Tuomi’s murder, with two victims in 1988, one in 1989, and four victims in 1990.

In 1991, he began to kill one person every week. He was arrested in 1991 and was charged with 15 murder cases. At last, his trial began on January 30, 1992.

Cannibalism And Necrophilia

From 1990 onwards, Dahmer started to carry out indecent activities with the corpses. He started to use the dead bodies for intercourse, dismembering their body parts, taking photographs of the dismemberment process and the body parts of his victims, preserving his victims’ skulls and genitals with scientific precision, and displaying them for entertainment. He even retained the body parts for consumption.

Preservation Of Body Parts

On July 22, 1991, Dahmer found another victim named Tracy Edwards. He lured him into the house and forced him into the bedroom with a butcher knife. Edward was somehow able to escape and alert the police. When the police reached Dahmer’s house, they found the photographs of his victims and their dismembered parts.

Moreover, the investigation of Dahmer’s house led them to find a severed head in the refrigerator, three more severed heads in the apartment, and various photographs of the victims. And some other human remains in the refrigerator that he had preserved. A total of seven skulls and a human heart were found in his apartment.
